Ashes to Steele {Review + Character Interview + Giveaway!}

Read in: February, 2014
Format: eBook
Source: CTC Virtual Book Tours
Star Rating: 4

Synopsis:
Emma
Who I am and all I believe is marred with just one glance into angry, steel blue eyes. He seems
to control my air, my ability to breathe. He makes me crave everything I know is a sin. Pure
becomes tainted and lines are blurred. It's my fault; I'm the one who isn't strong enough. I've
been damaged...broken. Breck's words haunt me...'There's a consequence for every choice you
make.'

Breck
I've had so many women I can't even remember over half of their names, but none of them are
mine; I make damn sure of that. I take what I desire and never look back. I don't need or want
anyone, ever...not until I met Emma. Those eyes bore into what's left of my soul and her touch

sears me, weakens me. I want to hate her for that. She is my ruin...my sweetest hell.

Prosecution:
THE ANXIETY THIS NOVEL LEFT ME WITH. It has been almost a month since I read it, and honestly, it hasn't left my brain since. But the novel lost a point due to becoming a little predictable.

Defense:
Oh my LAWD. Can I  just move to Boston now??? Anyways, Breck. Oh gosh. The way he stands up for her. Boys, please take note. Emma has to be one of my favorite heroines. She's strong, hard working, and stubborn. Definitely someone to look up to. I don't want to give too much away, but this novel is for sure up there in the top 10 books of 2014.

Verdict:
4 solid stars. There was just enough of a kick ending to escape 3.5 stars but the novel ended up becoming a little predictable towards the middle. However, someone sign me up for a sequel!!

Character Interview with Gavin:
I appreciate you coming here to talk about Breck.
I know that you wanted to interview Breck, but he’s more of the private kind, not too
much into talking or giving interviews.
Breck’s restaurant is doing remarkably well and he has a new one to open up soon. Is he proud
of his success?
Breck’s restaurant is his life. He busted his ass to open Kylianna’s, and having another
restaurant open in New York is his dream, even if he won’t publicize that.
Breck’s notorious for his ‘love ‘em and leave ‘em’ lifestyle. Does that image hold true to his
character?
Breck is definitely a one night stand guy; he has a woman once and he’s done with her.
Well, at least that’s how he’s been until he met Emma.
Emma is a small town preacher’s daughter; she doesn’t seem his type?
Hell, I guess the saying ‘Opposites attract’ holds a new meaning for Breck and Emma.
There’s this twisted love/hate thing going on between them. The attractions there, but they are
both hell-bent on denying they feel anything for the other. It’s hilarious watching them
together. Emma has no idea what she’s getting into.
You’re the bouncer at the Dark Hole. That’s a popular place; are there many fights there?
Not nearly enough! That’s what keeps things interesting, having to break up drunken
idiots when they’ve had too much liquid fun. I can kick some serious ass on my own, but when
Breck joins in, we’re invincible.
Breck likes to fight?
No, actually he tries to avoid fighting, unless it’s beneficial to him, which is a shame; he’s
damn good at it.

Breck also works at Dur Acier, his grandfather’s lucrative business. Does he plan on taking the
manager’s position permanently?
Not if he can help it. Breck hates working at Dur Acier and having to deal with the
partners and board members. He’s not what you call a team player. Breck likes to make his own
rules, live his own life. He doesn’t do well with playing nice. He’s only stepping in until his
grandfather gets better.
Do you see Breck and Emma getting together, or will she just be one of his conquests?
Emma’s Jess’ best friend. We don’t screw with one of our own; Breck knows that, or, at
least, I hope he does. Emma seems to have class and a good dose of intelligence; I don’t know if
she’ll fall for his usual panty dropping skills.
You, Breck, and Jess seem very tight. How did all of you meet?
That’s a question that I’ll have to follow Breck’s lead on and decline answering. I’m a
helluva lot more open than he is, but that’s a part of our lives that’s private. I will say that
Breck’s known Jess since they were small kids, and I met them in my teens.
Breck donates food from his restaurant to a center that houses foster children. Does he do other
philanthropic work?
If you count Breck saving my and Jess’ ass more than once. Breck’s always been the one
to hold everything together. He doesn't talk about what he does, but I know he’s got a heart
buried under his smug ass exterior somewhere.

About the Author:
Karen-Anne Stewart is a new author and has only recently discovered that she is now addicted
to writing. Her first novel, Saving Rain, was originally going to be a single novel, but it quickly
turned into a trilogy. She fell in love with the characters and had to continue the story. Saving
Rain is a new adult contemporary romance meant for readers 18 and older.
She lives in the mountains with her family. She loves to read, hike, and travel when she is not
writing. She is a sucker for romance, especially a book with a strong alpha male who has a
sensitive side. She also enjoys a good mystery and thrillers.
Her favorite author is James Patterson; he is an amazing writer.
With being a newbie, she is just learning all the ropes, but is loving the wild ride. She plans to
write for as long as her fingers have dexterity.
